20 Cigarettes
Multiple award-winning anti-war film following a 28-year-old activist who takes up an offer to assist a director filming a piece about the Italian military in Iraq and is quickly swept up in the nations's violence. Best Film at the 2010 Venice Film Festival.
Twenty-something activist and anarchist Aureliano (Vinicio Marchioni) travels to Iraq as the assistant director on a film about the Italian military peace mission. Not long after he arrives, Aureliano emerges as the sole survivor of a suicide bombing, and finds himself an unlikely hero.
Presenting a different take on the war in Iraq than American films, 20 Cigarettes is one of only a handful of European films to explore this subject matter.
