Che (2008)

Benicio Del Toro beards up to play iconic and divisive Marxist crusader Ernesto 'Che' Guevara in this weighty two-part biopic from director Steven Soderbergh (Traffic, Oceans 11). The Argentine deals with the Cuban revolution, up to the toppling of dictator Fulgencio Batista, while Guerilla looks at Che's later life, from 1964 up to his execution in the Bolivian mountains in 1967 (where he'd been instigating another uprising).

Best Actor (Del Toro), Cannes Film Festival 2007.

In the mood.

Big fan of Benicio Del Toro, he really does look the part as the Che. Let's see if it will bring something else than what we have already seen with the colourful and generous Motorcycle Diaries. It seems that movie will trace the second and more politically engaged part of his life. You have to be in the mood to watch that type of movie though.
