The pleasant surprise about Demolition Man is that both the script, and Stallone, are funny; the film blends big-budget action and tongue-in-cheek humor in the way that "last action hero" tried, and failed, to do.
Full reviewSylvester Stallone is maniac cop John Spartan opposite Wesley Snipes as maniac criminal Simon Phoenix in this classic '90s action sci-fi. When Spartan's actions result in both Phoenix's capture and the death of civilians, they are both arrested and put in suspended animation. 36 years later, Spartan emerges to a non-violent future, as does his nemesis. Co-stars Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock, Oscar nominee Nigel Hawthorne (Yes Minister) and Emmy nominee Benjamin Bratt (Law & Order). And also Rob Schneider.
