Based on the acclaimed science fiction novel written by Orson Scott Card. My expectations were low in Gavin Hood, director of the atrocious X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie. Surprisingly, Ender's Game is a very good science fiction movie. Ender's Game is more of a training movie than an epic space battle. Think Full Metal Jacket with gravity suits and laser guns. Asa Butterfield plays Ender Wiggin, destined to be the hero who will defeat the alien race that almost destroyed Earth. Ender's intellect is far more advanced than other kids his age. He's an expert in combat. Yet his character is human and emotionally vulnerable. Harrison Ford's really impressed me with his performance as Colonel Graff, who his fully convinced that Ender is the one. He doesn't do the grumpy old Harrison Ford routine. Ben Kingsley was good for the short amount of screen time he has. Kingsley plays Mazar Rackham, who has a big Maori face tattoo. I was really engaged in Ender's Game. It was much better than I thought it was going to be. The special effects are pretty and the space action sequences were cool. The ending sets up for a sequel. I don't know how a part 2 would work, but I'm dying to see one.
We spent 12 months on this new Flicks website, and when the rubber met the road, a developer who shall rename nameless didn't finish our member login and sign-ups. Literally everything else got done. But not member login and sign-ups. He had a good crack at it. Came up short. It happens.
Good news is, it'll be finished shortly. Please try again in a day or so. We appreciate your patience.
