John Hughes' coming-of-age comedy follow-up to The Breakfast Club. Smooth high-schooler Ferris (Mathew Broderick) knows everyone and every trick to faking an illness. With the entire school convinced he's at death's door, he grabs his girlfriend and best friend and hits the streets of Chicago for a well-deserved day off. Meanwhile, his fired-up principal is determined to outfox Ferris and put a premature end the "field trip". The movie, famously written by Hughes in less than seven days, was 1986's highest-grossing movie in the States.
