Gael García Bernal (The Motor Cycle Diaries, The Science Of Sleep) stars as Mexican drifter Elvis. After being discharged from the Navy he tracks down his father David (William Hurt) – a former hellraiser, now a preacher at an evangelical Southern church. More

But David scorns Elvis, reasoning he has a new family and that Elvis is the result of love affair from a past life - before he found Jesus. Elvis accepts this, but can’t keep his hands off the Pastor’s 16 yr old daughter Malerie (Pell James), and they fall in love. Problematic. The discovery of the love affair by Malerie’s Bible-student brother will lead to tragedy and though David slowly accepts Elvis, his own past sins are about to be repaid.
