Sure, A House of Dynamite clocks in at a tidy 112 minutes, but 18 minutes is the length of time between when an intercontinental ballistic missile is detected by a US military installation in Alaska, and when it’s explosive payload hits Chicago. In that time we see how the various figures in the upper echelons of power deal with the crisis.

Why we’re excited about A House of Dynamite
While the bloom is off the rose when it comes to depicting the US federal government as anything other than a clown car full of simpering swine, Bigelow has form for doing so—remember Zero Dark Thirty? This film has been generating some mighty fine buzz; it should prove to be a propulsive thriller.
