What is Chad Powers season 1 about?
Co-created by our man Powell himself and Michael Waldron, the show is based on the character created by former NFL quarterback Eli Manning. Manning adopted the Chad Powers persona to try out for the 2022 Penn State football team as a walk-in, the whole thing being recorded for a bit on ESPN. This might be the weirdest basis for a TV comedy since $h*! My Dad Says.
As reimagined for narrative purposes, Chad Powers is also a cover identity, adopted by narcissistic NFL star Russ Holliday after he destroys his career by blowing a championship game. As Powers, Holliday restarts his career on a college team. There is a better than average chance he will learn some lessons and rediscover his pure love of the game on the way.
