Demon Slayer: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle hits the big screen!

The wildly popular manga adaptation Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba continues with this big screen take. It’s a direct sequel to the fourth season of the anime television series along with its fourth, fifth, and sixth film adaptations, so at best guess you probably don’t want to be starting with this one.

Demon Slayer: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle is screening in New Zealand cinemas from September 11, 2025.

What is Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle about?

I dunno, man. I read the plot synopsis three times and I still have no idea. Demon Slayer: Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle is absolutely mired in continuity and is just one piece of a large, intricate narrative that does no favours to newcomers.

Set in Taishō era Japan, the overall series follows the Demon Slayer Corps, a secret organization that has waged a covert war against demons for centuries. This latest storyline sees the Demon Slayer Corps trapped in the titular Infinity Castle, the interdimensional lair of the very first demon, Muzan Kibutsuji, where they must battle various other demons in order to free themselves. There’s a lot more to it than that, with various personal subplots and what have you, but if you’re not across the lore, I don’t like your chances.

In the Japanese version, we have the talents of Natsuki Hanae, Akari Kitō, Hiro Shimono, Hiro Shimono, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, Reina Ueda, Nobuhiko Okamoto, and Takahiro Sakurai, while the English dub features Zach Aguilar, Abby Trott, Aleks Le, Bryce Papenbrook, Brianna Knickerbocker, Zeno Robinson, and Johnny Yong Bosch. And a voice cameo from Channing Tatum, which is unexpected.

If it’s your thing—and there is a huge market for this stuff—have at it. But I’ve rarely seen a sequel so hostile to new viewers, you’re going to want to start at the start.
