What is Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 about?

Set on the original USS Enterprise a few years before Kirk took command, Strange New Worlds is basically old school Star Trek for the 21st century, nimbly managing to tell an overarching storyline while making sure almost every episode is self-contained. It’s like the Platonic ideal of Star Trek, the appeal of the series distilled to its very essence: big ideas, derring-do, moral quandaries, and a sense of fun.

They do indulge in the occasional two-parter, though, and the first episode here picks up after season 2’s cliffhanger ending, which saw our valiant crew contending with a Gorn invasion. And so we go from there.

Plus, we have Paul Wesley as young, already cocky James T. Kirk; Carol Kane as Chief Engineer Pelia; Cillian O’Sullivan as evil, scum-sucking, girlfriend-stealing Roger Korby (don’t worry, he’ll get his); Melanie Scrofano as Pike squeeze Marie Batel; and Dan Jeannotte as George Samuel “Sam” Kirk, the more familiar Kirk’s mustachioed brother.
