Venerable sci-fi series now officially in its silver fox era.

Time certainly flies when you’re a renegade Gallifreyan Time Lord galivanting across all creation in a blue police box. Indeed, the 60th anniversary of the BBC’s venerable sci-fi flagship, Doctor Who, is almost upon us, and it’s being marked by not one but three anniversary specials. Tempus fugit, hey?

How to watch The Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Specials in New Zealand

The Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Specials will be streaming in New Zealand exclusively on Disney+ from November 26. The second hits on December 3, and the third on December 10.

What are The Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Specials about?

Well, there’s this Doctor, see…

C’mon now. You either already know or you’re too young to choosing your own viewing.

The cast of The Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Specials

Jodie Whitaker’s out! Having been summarily dispatched by The Master at the climax of the last season. but of course, the Doctor can regenerate… into David Tennant! Tennant, of course, played the Tenth Doctor previously, but now he’s playing a different incarnation, the Fourteenth Doctor, who just happens to look like an older version of the Tenth.

Viewers of course assumed that Ncuti Gatwa would be playing the Fourteenth Doctor when he was announced to be replacing Whitaker in the role, but it turns out he’s playing the Fifteenth Doctor, Whitaker being the Thirteenth. And given that Gatwa’s Doctor is being introduced in one of these things—the third Special, at a guess—it’s hardly a spoiler to suggest the Fourteenth Doctor’s tenure is a notably brief one.

Catherine Tate also returns as Donna Noble, and Neil Patrick Harris is on villain duties in an as-yet-nameless role—but fans think he’s probably playing old adversary the Celestial Toymaker.
