How to watch The Naked Gun (2025) in New Zealand

Are you ready for the Full Neeson?

And lo, bestriding the battlefield of soft reboots to long -go popular franchises like a silly colossus comes The Naked Gun, in which no lesser a luminary than Liam Neeson slips into the sport coat once worn by the late, great Leslie Nielsen, and presumably finds a fart machine in the pocket.

How to watch The Naked Gun (2025) in New Zealand

The Naked Gun is screening in New Zealand cinemas from August 21, 2025.

What is The Naked Gun (2025) about?

Oh, some nonsense.

Look, all you really need to know is this is the reboot to the deliriously funny The Naked Gun trilogy, which saw Nielsen reprise his role of deadpan dickhead Lieutenant Frank Drebin from the gone-too-soon TV series, Police Squad. Here, Neeson is Drebin’s son, saddled with the same name and the same MO when it comes to busting crime: staggering stupidity delivered with utmost seriousness.

The plot has never mattered, and in this case the film hang a hat on it by having Drebin on the trail of a gizmo literally called the P.L.O.T. Device, getting tangled up with Pamela Anderson’s mystery novelist on the way. But it’s all just an excuse for a barrage of jokes, each more puerile and brilliant than the last.

The cast of The Naked Gun (2025)

Liam Neeson is perfectly cast as Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. Plus there’s Pamela Anderson as Beth Davenport; Paul Walter Hauser as Capt. Ed Hocken Jr; Danny Huston as Richard Cane; CCH Pounder as Chief Davis; and Kevin Durand, Liza Koshy, Eddie Yu, Moses Jones, Cody Rhodes, and Busta Rhymes in support.

Why we’re excited about The Naked Gun (2025)

Man, sometimes it’s nice to have a comedy that’s just a comedy, isn’t it? Just something designed to make you bust a gut laughing. This one looks like it’s leaving it all out on the field in service to that aim, and we’re here for it.
