What is The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants about?
Making his fourth big screen appearance (and this thing is the sixth movie in the franchise overall, which surprised the hell out of me) SpongBob gets into the usual trouble when he decides to prove himself a “big man” to his boss, the irascible Mr. Krabs. For reasons that will doubtless go unexplained, he resolves to do this by tracking that legendary demon of the deep, the Flying Dutchman, dragging his best bud, Patrick, and the long-suffering Squidward along for the ride. Hilarity and weirdness ensue, as we’ve come to expect. Probably some bangin’ tunes too, going by past form.
The cast of The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants
All voices, obviously, but get ready to hear the dulcet tones of Tom Kenny as SpongeBob SquarePants and Gary the Snail; Clancy Brown as Mr. Krabs; Rodger Bumpass as Squidward Tentacles; Bill Fagerbakke as Patrick Star; Carolyn Lawrence as Sandy Cheeks; Mr. Lawrence as Plankton; George Lopez as JK Fishlips, a fish news anchor; Isis “Ice Spice” Gaston as an amusement park employee; Regina Hall as Barb, the Flying Dutchman’s assistant; and the mighty Mark Hamill as The Flying Dutchman.

Why we’re excited about The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants
The big, dirty secret of the whole SpongeBob thing is this: it’s really, really fun, invested with a deathlessly anarchic sense of humour that provides as much fun for parents (and the odd solo adult) as it does for kids. If you’re looking for school holiday entertainment, this might just hit the spot.
