What is The SpongeBob Movie: Search for Squarepants about?
Assuming for the moment that you’re across the general gist of the long-running animated franchise (there’s this sponge, he lives in a pineapple under the sea, his job sucks and his best mate is a starfish) this latest adventure follows the eponymous Spongebob and his various friends. They journey to the very bottom of the ocean to confront the terrifying Flying Dutchman, who in this context is not a cursed sailing ship but rather some manner of ghost pirate.
Look, these things tend to run by their own weird logic—you might be better off just relaxing and going along for the ride.

We’re talking voice cast, obviously. So expect to hear Tom Kenny as SpongeBob SquarePants; genre legend Clancy “The Kurgan” Brown as Mr. Krabs, his boss; Rodger Bumpass as Squidward Tentacles, his surly co-worker; Bill Fagerbakke as Patrick Star, his bestie; Carolyn Lawrence as Sandy Cheeks; Mr. Lawrence as Plankton; and the mighty Mark Hamill as the Flying Dutchman; along with George Lopez, Ice Spice, Arturo Castro, Sherry Cola, and Regina Hall.

Why we’re excited about The SpongeBob Movie: Search for Squarepants
With the caveat that I can’t see myself getting along to a cinema for this one, Spongebob’s playful sense of anarchy and imagination is hard to resist. If you find yourself needing to pick a movie for a family outing this holiday season, you could definitely do worse.
