A Jewish Hungarian émigré to France, born Laszlo Elkán, Lucien Hervé (1910- 2007) was the official photographer for Swiss-French artist Le Corbusier between 1949 and 1965. This biographical documentary details his life story and his unique craft.
Considered one of the foremost photographers of the 20th century, he also collaborated with architects Alvar Aalto and Oscar Niemeyer, and is known for his exquisite images of Chandigarh, Brasilia and Thoronet. He photographed the great construction sites of Paris, from the UNESCO headquarters to the Louvre pyramid. His high-angle shots, oblique perspectives, sparseness and abstraction combine to give him a photographic style that is very different from his contemporaries.
