Elf returns to select NZ cinemas this Christmas

Before he started making big Disney bucks with Iron Man and The Lion King, director Jon Favreau made a holly jolly name for himself with Elf. And it’s returning to NZ cinemas this holiday season.

The 2003 Christmas comedy starred Will Ferrell at the height of his career, playing a gigantic human raised as an elf in Santa’s workshop who journeys to Manhattan to find his real father.

Event Cinemas is bringing Elf back to the big screen on 14 December. Regions include Auckland, Blenheim, Chartwell, Wellington, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Tauranga and Whangarei.

The film’s endured a bit of a cult status over the years. The late, great Roger Ebert had this to say about Elf: “This is one of those rare Christmas comedies that has a heart, a brain and a wicked sense of humor, and it charms the socks right off the mantelpiece.”
