How to watch Black Rabbit in New Zealand

Jude Law’s restaurant is on the line in Netflix’s new crime thriller.

You know how it is: you’re living your life, your restaurant is doing well, and all of a sudden that dirtbag Jason Bateman shows up to drag you into a labyrinth of gambling, debt, organised crime, theft, and murder. Tale as old as time.

How to watch Black Rabbit in New Zealand

Black Rabbit is streaming in New Zealand exclusively on Netflix from September 18, 2025. All eight episodes are dropping at once.

What is Black Rabbit about?

Created by Zach Baylin and Kate Susman, Black Rabbit sees Jude Law as Jake, a successful New York restaurant owner living his best life, until his chaotic petty criminal brother, Vince, comes crashing back into his life, bringing with him a massive debt owed to Troy Kotsur’s ruthless gangster.

Obviously, Jake’s restaurant will settle the bill nicely, but Jake would rather it not come to that for fairly obvious reasons. Things soon spiral out of control as the battling bros try to get out from under, with violent and presumably entertaining results.

The cast of Black Rabbit

Jude Law is restaurateur Jake Friedken; Jason Bateman is Vince Friedken, his degenerate gambler brother; Cleopatra Coleman is Estelle; Amaka Okafor is Roxie; Sope Dirisu is Wes; Dagmara Domińczyk is Val; Chris Coy is Babbit; Troy Kotsur is mobster Joe Mancuso; with Abbey Lee, Odessa Young, Robin de Jesús, Amir Malaklou, Don Harvey, Forrest Weber, Francis Benhamou, and Gus Birney in support.

Why we’re excited about Black Rabbit

Jason Bateman well and truly proved that he can work in the crime genre with Netflix’s Ozark, and Jude Law’s no stranger to the milieu. Their chemistry is what’s going to make what seems to be a solid meat and potatoes crime thriller punch above its weight, and we’re keen to see the results. Let’s face it: there’s probably a twist or two the trailers are not telling us.
