What is Bring Her Back about?
Following the unexpected and fairly horrifying death of their father, teenagers Andy and his younger sister, the visually impaired Piper, have packed off to live with foster carer Laura in the Adelaide hills. She seems nice enough, but she’s grieving for her blind daughter, who drowned in their swimming pool not long ago. She has a plan, though, and is determined to bring her dead kid back by supernatural means—and Piper is the last piece she needs to carry out her evil plot. Bring Her Back treads similar territory to the Philippous’ previous work, combining occult themes and domestic drama with the odd splash of gnarly body horror.

Why we’re excited about Bring Her Back
Danny and Michael Philippou night be the most exciting filmmakers in Australia right now, having made a stunning genre debut with Talk to Me. Bring Her Back proves they’re definitely not one trick ponies. This is a staggeringly powerful, downbeat, supernatural thriller, and shows that the brothers have a long and much-lauded directing career ahead of them. It’s also scary as hell, but that is the object of the exercise, after all.
