How to watch How to watch Son of a Donkey in New Zealand

If you liked Superwog, we have excellent news for you. And we’ll try to use smaller words.

I keep hearing that Australian comedy is in crisis, and that there’s a near-terminal dearth of opportunities for young, emerging comic talent. But hey: Son of a Donkey is here, so it’s all good.

How to watch Son of a Donkey in New Zealand

Son of a Donkey is now streaming exclusively in New Zealand on Netflix.

What is Son of a Donkey about?

Right, so, bit of backstory here: Superwog is the creation of Melbourne brothers Theodore and Nathan Saidden. It started life as a sketch comedy YouTube Channel (3.66 million followers) before becoming a two season series on the ABC. Then those two seasons were picked up by Netflix for global distribution, where they retitled the series Superbro. Then Netflix commissioned a sequel series, Son of a Donkey, and here we are.

In the sense that this thing has much of a plot (it’s essentially a loosely connected selection of skits), Theodore plays teenager Theo, while Nathan plays his best mate, Johnny. They get up to all manner of mischief. Son of a Donkey sees Theo finally move out of home, and hilarity ensues.

The cast of Son of a Donkey

Theodore and Nathan Saidden play most of the characters, so there’s not much more to report here. Loraine Fabb, Sara Ellis Holland, Christopher Farrell, Daniel Reader, Sotiris Tzelios, Matthew Crosby, and Toby Derrick show up in supporting roles.
