How to watch Miley Cyrus: Something Beautiful in New Zealand

Miley Cyrus’ latest album gets a concept film. Righto.

Released as a companion to pop star Miley Cyrus’ recent album of the same name, this is one of those “visual album” dealios—a concept now prevalent enough to have its own Wikipedia category, as I just learned.

How to watch Miley Cyrus: Something Beautiful in New Zealand

Miley Cyrus: Something Beautiful is streaming in New Zealand exclusively on Disney+ from July 30, 2025.

What is Miley Cyrus: Something Beautiful about?

Uh…look, there’s no plot. As The Guardian noted, that’s “not because it’s a willfully confusing exercise in non-linear arthouse cinema, but because it’s just a load of pop videos.” Let’s see what we can do here…

Written and directed by Miley Cyrus, Jacob Bixenman (a ton of music videos) and Brendan Walter (a ton of music videos, plus he plays guitar in Valencia) and apparently inspired by Pink Floyd’s The Wall, Miley Cyrus: Something Beautiful is all about the concept of healing. But casting around the reviews online, it looks like The Guardian is on the money. It’s 55 minutes of loosely-connected music videos, with no strong thematic through-line. Okay.

Why we’re excited about Miley Cyrus: Something Beautiful

Look, I don’t know. Do you like Miley Cyrus? You’ll like this. Don’t mind her, much like me? It’s only 55 minutes long, so that strikes me as a safe investment of time and interest. Don’t like Miley? I can’t imagine anything here will change your mind. It is kind of mind blowing that this thing got a theatrical release in some markets; I don’t think there’s enough bang for your buck here to justify a cinema ticket. There’s barely enough to reach the SEO word count, which I’ll hit right…about…now.
