Send Help: New Zealand trailer and release date
No man is an island – but he may wish he was in this twisty thriller from Sam Raimi.

Sam Raimi is back! The mad genius who gave us the Evil Dead flicks and the first (and best) Spider-Man movies has returned to thriller territory with this gleefully sinister tale of survival and flipped scripts.
When is Send Help being released in New Zealand?
Send Help is screening exclusively in New Zealand cinemas from January 29, 2026.
What is Send Help about?
The set up is the kind of beautifully simple yet outlandish premise that’s redolent of a good Twilight Zone episode. Put upon personal assistant Linda is getting the “shape up or ship out” treatment from her unbearably arrogant employer, Bradley Preston, and is on the verge of being given the sack, when a plane crash during a crucial business trip strands the pair of them on a desert island.
While he’s laid up with a badly injured leg after the accident, she sets her mind to the task of keeping them both alive—and proves to be unexpectedly talented at wilderness survival. This sudden shift in the power dynamic takes a turn for the sinister fairly quickly, though, as you can see from the trailer. Misery meets Cast Away seems like the obvious shorthand here.
The cast of Send Help
A fairly small cast in play, which is to be expected given the premise. Rachel McAdams is Linda Liddle, our downtrodden worker drone turned sinister survivalist; Dylan O’Brien is Bradley Preston, her quite awful boss; while Edyll Ismail, Dennis Haysbert, Xavier Samuel, Chris Pang, Thaneth Warakulnukroh, and Emma Raimi round out the ensemble.

Why we’re excited about Send Help
We’re getting Drag Me To Hell vibes from this one. It looks like Sam Raimi is in EC comics mode, offering up a cruel yet blackly funny morality play that really puts its characters through the wringer. We can’t wait.
