EPISODE 10.1
Happy New Year
Larry kicks off the new year with new rival Mocha
... More Joe; at a cocktail party hosted by Jeff and Susie, Larry gets roped into lunch plans and has a misunderstanding with a caterer.LessLarry David returns for the 10th season of Curb. A fallout with Mocha Joe (from season 7), sees Larry’s opening his own cafe, a “spite store”, next door. In parallel, Larry fights a sexual harassment case (a misunderstanding, naturally) and takes another shot at winning back Cheryl from Ted Danson.
As ever, he’s all about Larry. The Season 10 premiere also includes myriad callbacks and tributes to previous recurring characters and storylines, delivered in a way only Larry David can deliver. Every moment of this episode is a kind of reward to those of us who have been there from the beginning.
Full reviewWhere any of this is going is anyone's guess, including David & co.'s, I'd wager. But I will always hem and haw over niceties, so Curb still has my attention... for now.
Full reviewIs this all funny? Yeah, it absolutely is - I cackled out loud throughout the 38-minute episode. But it feels atypically aggressive, strangely paced, and in some cases destructively impatient.
Full reviewNeither age nor success have mellowed our irascible antihero and we wouldn't have it any other way.
Full reviewThe show's great strength is the continued ingenuity and audacity of the writing. Not every joke sizzles, yet the average episode still features an exceptionally high quotient of laugh-out-loud moments
