SIX60 talk about “unnecessarily nasty” critics in new clip from upcoming film

In a Flicks-exclusive clip to their upcoming film, SIX60 and guests talk about the “unnecessarily nasty” and “borderline racist” criticism the band received in the early days of their career.

Currently more world-famous in New Zealand than L&P, SIX60 had to first defy some brutal words from Kiwi music critics. In this new clip from their upcoming film, SIX60: Till the Lights Go Out, the crew—along with fellow musician Stan Walker, TV presented Kanoa Lloyd, and penitent critic Duncan Greive—express how the slagging only drove them more to achieve their ambitions.

It’s just one of many hurdles the band had to overcome to get where they are now. Directed by filmmaker Julia Parnell (The Chills: The Triumph and Tragedy of Martin Phillipps), the documentary details SIX60’s ups and downs on the path to success, capturing them at a time when they must reconcile aggressive ambition and creative vulnerability to prove their worth.

SIX60: Till the Lights Go Out releases nationwide November 26th. Tickets are available for the Dunedin and Auckland premieres: click here for details.
