After sold-out screenings, Boy Erased comes to Dunedin and Queenstown

Originally struck off the New Zealand cinema release schedule, gay conversion therapy drama Boy Erased found an independent distributor that hosted one-off screenings presented by Spark and NZME in support of OUTline, RainbowYOUTH and Diverse Church. Funds raised will go to these three organisations who continuously work to support the LGBT+ community.

Following up sold-out screenings in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch, the film makes its way to Queenstown (Reading Cinemas) on Wednesday 27 March and Dunedin (Rialto Cinemas) on Tuesday 9 April.

The true story drama star Oscar nominee Lucas Hedges (Manchester by the Sea, Lady Bird) as a 19-year-old who comes out to his parents (Nicole Kidman & Russell Crowe). He is faced with an ultimatum: attend a conversion therapy program–or be permanently exiled and shunned by his family, friends, and faith. Written and directed by actor Joel Edgerton (The Gift), co-starring actor and filmmaker Xavier Dolan (Mommy).
