How to watch The Sandman season 2 in New Zealand

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Going out with a whimper rather than a bang is Netflix’s lavish adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s lauded comic book fantasy series, The Sandman. Having been warmly received on first release back in 2022, the series is now getting burned off in one quick season, with only the minimum contractually obligated publicity. Any connection to the tsunami of allegations against Gaiman are up to the reader to hypothesise.

How to watch The Sandman season 2 in New Zealand

The Sandman season 2 is floating onto New Zealand Netflix as quietly as a mote of dust on a beam of moonlight on July 3, 2025. Well, Part 1 is, which consists of six episodes. Then we’re getting Part 2, which is five episodes, on July 24. Finally, the one-off special Death: the High Cost of Living lands on July 31.

What is The Sandman season 2 about?

After the rather luxuriantly paced first season, The Sandman season 2 has decided to speed-run the next 60 or so issues of comics in 11 episodes (12 if you count The High Cost of Living, which was a separate three issue limited series, not a numbered issue of The Sandman). Good luck with that! All else aside (and that’s putting aside an awful lot) that’s a lot of narrative ground to cover.

The cast of The Sandman season 2

Returning from season 1, we have Tom Sturridge as Dream, Vivienne Acheampong as Lucien, Mark Hamill as Mervyn, Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer, Asim Chaudhry and  Sanjeev Bhaskar as Cain and Abel, Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death, Donna Preston as Despair, Mason Alexander Park as Desire, and Patton Oswalt as the voice of Matthew the Raven.

New to the fold for this final slate of episodes are Ruairi O’Connor as Orpheus, Freddie Fox as Loki, Clive Russell as Odin, Laurence O’Fuarain as Thor, Ann Skelly as Nuala Douglas, Booth as Cluracan, Jack Gleeson as Puck, Barry Sloane as the Prodigal (aka Destruction), and Steven Coogan as the voice of Barnabas, his dog.
