What is Halo season 2 about?

As the official synopsis tells us, “Halo follows an epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant. Halo will weave deeply drawn personal stories with action, adventure and a richly imagined vision of the future.”

But more specifically, this season picks up six months after the events of the season one finale, with our hero, Master Chief John-117, now surgically separated from the AI Cortana, leading the elite Silver Team on desperate missions against the alien Covenant, a coalition of extraterrestrial religious fanatics, who are stepping up their devasting assaults on human-held planets. Yes, the allegory is a bit on the nose, but the explosions are fun.

Why we’re excited about Halo season 2

While the first season showed a lot of promise, it was a bit wobbly on its feet, dithering when it should have been pushing forward and not quite having a handle on the story it was trying to tell. This season, however, goes in with all guns blazing, and looks like it’ll deliver the epic insterstellar war we’re all waiting for.
