Make My Horror Movie launched!

As its online partner, we’re stoked to announce that  Make My Horror Movie is ready to make the dreams of wannabe Kiwi filmmakers come true. 2011’s original Make My Movie contest was a damn fine success, producing the very funny* How to Meet Girls from a Distance. Now, the competition is back with a vengeance, doubling the film production prize to $200,000! What’s more, there are new international partners in place with MPI Media/Darksky Films (Kill List, Enter the Void, Antiviral, Dead Snow) ready to get the winning film in front of a global audience – if it is up to scratch. We reckon it bloody well will be.

Entering the comp is simple:

1) Think of a horror film.

2) Write a synopsis (100–300 words) covering your film’s setting, characters and plot.

3) Design (or have someone design) a poster that sells your film.

4) Complete everything in the Submit section.

5) Share your idea via social media in order to drum up support for your project.

6) Win $200,000 and make a horror film.

Easy.

Entries close October 10, with the final 12 announced on October 24. On November 14, the list will crumble to a mere five entries with the Top 2 announced at the NZ Film Awards December 7. The winning concept will have its arm raised in victory on January 16, 2014, standing atop the brutalised bloody corpses of its competitors.
