Kiwi kids series Kiri and Lou lands a BAFTA nomination

Kiwi musical kids series Kiri and Lou has secured a prestigious BAFTA nomination.

BAFTA today released the nominations for this year’s BAFTA Children & Young People Awards, announcing local series Kiri and Lou as a nominee in the International section. Created in Ōtautahi (Christchurch) and currently in its third season, the show is nominated alongside Aussie juggernaut Bluey and Netflix hits City of Ghosts and Maya and the Three.

Kiri and Lou comes from the minds of writer-director Harry Sinclair and producer Fiona Copland, who are credited on the nomination. Set in the wilds of prehistoric Aotearoa, the show centres on feisty little dinosaur Kiri (voiced by Olivia Tennet) and gentle giant Lou (voiced by Jemaine Clement) as they learn about themselves and the world around them through laughter and songs (provided by composer Don McGlashan and co-songwriter Sinclair).

Kiri and Lou is currently available on TVNZ+. The 2022 BAFTA Children And Young People Awards takes place on Sunday 27 November in London, UK (Monday 28 November NZT).
