New to NZ Cinemas – 8 September

There’s a hearty helping of great cinema on this week. Whether you want a true story of everyday heroism or to hear a dirty sausage say “f*ck” a lot, there’s plenty to keep you going to your local theatre.

Then there are the smaller releases, the limited runs and obscure one-offs that might be more in line with your interests. Fans of tango and Nick Cave will want to take note.

Of course, maybe you just want something from the good ol’ days. There are classic films playing too.

Andrew Dominik (Killing Them Softly) directs this cinema event, the first opportunity to hear the 16th album from Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds.

Baar Baar Dekho | Find movie times near you

The latest big Hindi release sees Indian stars Sidharth Malhotra and Katrina Kaif in a romance littered with flashbacks and flash-forwards.

Baseball | Playing Sunday in Auckland at Artspace

This experimental Kiwi art film from F. Theodore Elliott (making his feature debut) is making its way around the country in select locations over the next few weeks, starting with Artspace on K Rd.


Classics

You could skip all the new stuff and settle for certified cinema classics, including the #1 film on IMDb, an iconic film starring the late Gene Wilder, and a terrifying film with a giant fake phallus in it.
