There’s a 24 Hour Movie Marathon for NZ’s most dedicated film nerds

Tickets are now on sale for the 24 Hour Movie Marathon. Taking place 7th December at Hollywood Avondale (Auckland), it’s exactly what it sounds like: 24 hours of non-stop films.

Needless to say, this one-of-a-kind experience is for hard-out film nuts only. What’s showing? You don’t know. Every film plays unannounced and they span numerous genres and decades (there’s even been the odd NZ premiere like Attack the Block, Zombieland and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang).

“Each year we have one night in New Zealand that is devoted to hardcore movie lovers,” states the official press release. “Your bog standard couch-potatoes need not apply. We are talking the Mt Everest of movie viewing experiences. This year is the 20th anniversary of the marathon and we’re looking forward to celebrating with all the fans who have supported the event over the years.”

The event’s been compared to “drinking absinthe or skinny dipping with strangers,” and “is something everyone should do once in their life.”

If that sounds like you, you’ll want to snatch up tickets to the beanbag seating (they always sell out first). Find tickets here or follow the event on Facebook.
